Abdul Wahhab Mosque, Al Muhandiseen Street, Doha, Qatar/Imam Abdul Wahhab Mosque or Qatar State Grand Mosque is no different, opened only two weeks ago for Friday prayers, the extravagant mosque has a very modern feel with crisp lines and large open outdoor spaces. However, the mosque preserves some of the traditional aspects of the gulf region’s past, the sandstone facades, the modest building height and ninety smaller domes mimic the building constraints present when Qatar was in its early years.The mosque covers a total area of 175,164 sq.m. As many as 11,000 men can offer prayers in the air-conditioned central hall of the mosque and the adjacent special enclosure is spacious enough for 1200 women. There are three main doors and 17 side entrances to the mosque. As many as 28 large domes cover the central hall while 65 domes cover the outer quadrangle. On the whole the mosque can hold a congregation of 30,000 people. يعد جامع الإمام محمد بن عبد الوهاب ، الذي تم افتتاحه في 21 محرم 1433هـ الموافق 16 ديسمبر 2011م، ،واحدا من اكبر المشاريع التي اضطلع بانجازها المكتب الهندسي الخاص وأكثرها نفعا للمجتمع ،كمقصد للعبادة والتعلم.ويضع جامع الإمام، دولة قطر في مصاف الدول الإسلامية الأكثر اهتماما بالتراث والحضارة الإسلامية الأصيلة.وقد حرص المكتب الخاص على أن يكون بناء الجامع محافظا على فن العمارة القطرية الأصيلة، الذي يجسد التراث القطري في بساطته ورونقه. ويأتي بناء جامع الإمام على شكل وطريقة جامع بوالقبيب الموجود في منطقة السوق بجوار شارع حمد الكبير، وقد بنى الشيخ جاسم بن محمد بن ثاني – رحمه الله - مؤسس قطر جامع بوالقبيب في ثواب والده.وليس من المصادفة أن يتزامن مرور عام- منذ رفع الستار عن هذه التحفة المعمارية الإسلامية - مع زهو الاحتفالات باليوم الوطني الذي يصادف الثامن عشر من ديسمبر 2012
