Chilbolton Observatory - One of Hampshire's Finest Abandoned Airfields. RAF Chilbolton, United Kingdom.Chilbolton Observatory is near the village of Chilbolton in Hampshire. The site is former RAF base that was used in World War II. It was the home of squadrons of Hurricanes, Spitfires, C-47s, and Tempests. It was later used for testing jet aircraft. Since the early 1960s it has been an observatory for atmospheric and radio research.
