Craigievar Castle Alford

AC Helicam Promo Craigievar Castle Alford, United Kingdom. This fairytale castle, a fine example of Scottish Baronial architecture, seems to have grown naturally out of the rolling hills. The great tower stands just as it did when completed in 1626. The Craigievar Castle is home to a fine collection of family portraits and original plaster ceilings. There is also much original Jacobean woodwork and some beautiful furniture, including the 'Craigievar table'. Surrounding the castle are extensive parkland grounds with two waymarked walks. There is also a small Victorian kitchen garden and a Scottish glen garden. Craigievar Castle is an iconic tower house, amongst the best preserved and the most loved in Scotland. The Forbes family lived in the castle for 350 years and when a group of benefactors (including members of the family) bought the castle and presented it to the National Trust for Scotland, it came complete with the vast majority of the contents, collected and lovingly preserved over the centuries by the family.First and foremost, Craigievar was a home and it is the special family atmosphere that endears it to so many visitors and which the Trust has tried to preserve. After two years closed for major conservation work, Craigivar Castle re-opened to the public in the spring of 2010.The large estate features woodland, parkland with magnificent specimen trees, and farmland with extensive views over the surrounding countryside to Bennachie.Because the fabric of the castle is delicate, we have to manage the property under strict conservation guidelines which require us to limit our visitor numbers. Coach parking is available 150 yards from the visitor reception and shop www.nts.org.uk Aerial Filming at Craigievar Castle. Craigievar Castle Alford - the best aerial videos
