The mosque of Chalkida. The Ottoman Mosque of Emir Zade At today's Kotsou Street, just across the bridge between the Euboea and the Boeotic side, is located in an important point of Chalkida, the imposing mosque known as the mosque of Emir Zade, built in the early years of the Ottoman period (1470-1833). Emir Zade Mosque Margariti - Το τζαμί της Χαλκίδας. Το Οθωμανικό Τέμενος του Εμίρ Ζαδέ Στην σημερινή οδό Κώτσου, απέναντι ακριβώς από τη γέφυρα που ενώνει την ευβοϊκή με τη βοιωτική πλευρά, βρίσκεται σε σημαίνον σημείο της Χαλκίδας, το επιβλητικό τέμενος γνωστό και ως τζαμί του Εμίρ Ζαδέ, που χτίστηκε στους πρώτους χρόνους της οθωμανικής περιόδου (1470-1833). Πρόκειται για ένα από τα τρία τζαμιά που υπήρχαν στην πόλη, το οποίο διατηρείται σε πολύ καλή κατάσταση, αν και έχουν καθαιρεθεί ο μιναρές και το προστώο, τα οποία σώζονταν τουλάχιστον έως τα μέσα του 19ου αι. Στο εσωτερικό στη ΝΑ πλευρά βρίσκεται το μιχράμπ, όπου διακρίνονται ακόμα ίχνη χρώματος. Μετά την απελευθέρωση είχε μετατραπεί σε στρατώνα, σήμερα στεγάζει μέρος της μεσαιωνικής αρχαιολογικής συλλογής Χαλκίδας. Τελευταία έγινε Λαογραφικό Μουσείο. Επάνω από την είσοδο του τζαμιού υπάρχει η επιγραφή σε Αραβική γλώσσα: «Είσελθε εδώ εν ειρήνη και θα είσαι αθάνατος εις το όνομα του Παντελεήμονα Θεού».Αποτελεί χαρακτηριστικό μνημείο της Οθωμανικής εποχής.
