Grabrok Crater

Grabrok Crater

Crater Grabrok West Iceland ( Stóru-Grábrók ) near Bifrost village, aerial video from drone. Grábrók Crater (Gray Pants) is located almost on the Ring road, just metres west of the road, north of Hreðavatn Lake (Hredavatn) and Bifröst University in West Iceland. Rising about 170 above ground, Grábrók Crater is truly one of the landmarks of the region and can be seen from far away. Grábrók Crater is the largest of three craters sitting on a short volcanic rift. The other two are called Rauðbrók Crater (Red Pants) and Litla-Grábrók Crater (Little Gray Ants). The three craters and the lava field have been preserved since 1962. The Grábrók Lava Field, the lava coming from this small volcano around 3,400 years ago and covering around 7 km2 of the area, surrounds Grábrók Crater. This area is by many Icelanders considered to be the most beautiful in Iceland, as the black lava is mostly covered in green moss and shrubs, mostly birch. The crater itself is also largely covered in moss. There are many springs in the lava fields, the Paradísarlaut Spring (Paradise Hollow Spring) being the largest and most visited, just a few kilometres east of Grábrók, on the other side of the Ring road. There is a car park by the crater from which you can hike to the top of Grábrók. There are man-made steps that make the hike easier, and most people can go up there. The view from the top is spectacular, over all the Borgarfjörður Region and the Hreðavatn Lake.//tripcreator.com Visit and check my channel to see more of the most beautiful places on our planet:Feel free to embed on your website any video from this channel via the YouTube player, for commercial or non-commercial use (no need to ask for permission). The videos in the channel are licensed/shared under the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
