Onderweg moet je opdrachten uitvoeren en kun je een aantal spellen doen, zodat je snel leert hoe je het Muiderslot moet verdedigen. Doe daarna de Ridderroute en verdien je riddermedaille! We offer a varied educational programme devoted to the culture and heritage of the Middle Ages and the 17th and 19th centuries. Students learn mainly by discovering things for themselves. Naturally, they also learn about the life of Count Floris V, for whom the castle was originally built. Another famous resident was the seventeenth-century writer P.C. Hooft, whose life and times are described in the Golden Age tour through the furnished rooms of Muiderslot museum. The basic programme consists of five parts: The Tower Route, the Knight’s Route, the Falconer, the Water Shield and the Gardens. The theme of the Tower Route is the castle’s defences, as students follow an interactive quest to discover how the castle was defended against its enemies. The Knight’s Route is devoted to how people lived in 1285, when Floris V ordered the construction of the castle. With the visit to the Falconer, the students will be able to see the birds of prey from close by and watch them in flight. In the Water Shield, they can watch a short animated film about the history of the castle’s relationship with water as both a friend and a foe. In the historic Gardens, they can see the types of herbs and vegetables that people used to grow in former times.In addition to the basic programme, we offer a range of additional activities to bring the events of the past to life and provide a deeper knowledge of the castle’s history.
