Hotel Scapolatiello

Hotel Scapolatiello Cava dè Tirreni Corpo di Cava, Salerno, Italy The founder of this flourishing Hotel enterprise in 1821 was Gabriele Scapolatiello. It is attributed to him that from 1846, one refers to “master” in the ancient guest’s book, which is jealously kept in the Hotel. At the end of the XIX century his son Giuseppe took over the business, who was the first member of the family to be registered in the Town Hall as a Hotel keeper. After Giuseppe, Cesare the son took charge of the Hotel. He’s remembered the most for his passion and talent in the culinary art. The secret of his delicious dishes was in the freshness of the products used, coming largely from nearby organic farms, owned by the Scapolatiello family.Even today the farms are still in use, guaranteeing fresh, delicious dishes prepared from the Chef of the “Locanda18.21” Restaurant.Probably, the most difficult administration, has been the one by Cesare’s son, Giuseppe, who had to take over the business at age 18, since Cesare died prematurely. He had to put aside his dreams of going to University, having his brother Vincenzo and the sister Maria helping him manage the place. Giuseppe had to live through tragic periods of that era, World War I and then World War II. In 1943 Cava de’ Tirreni was occupied and bombarded, but his solidarity spirit and his hospitality inclination, drove him to help those citizens who were left with no homes and providing for them with food and shelter. Giuseppe married Zelia Pelosi Ventura in 1950, they had three children, Lucia, Giuliana and Cesare, who today are managing the business along with the wise presence of Giuseppe. The Hotel Scapolatiello is today one of the most renowned and important structures of theCampaniaregion and it is listed in the chain partnership of Jewels Hotel& Resorts Collection and of Charme & Relax.
