Kammabaai Beach

Kammabaai Beach Birkenhead House Aerial video - Photos of Africa  5th Avenue, Hermanus, Western Cape, South Africa Located next to Langbaai, Kammabaai beach is larger and easily accessible; a popular location for families and surfers alike. During low tide the beach offers plenty of places to picnic upon, with rocky outcrops teeming with sea creatures whilst high tide brings stronger currents and good waves for surfing. It’s suggested that children not swim during high tide due to the currents. The beach is also linked to the larger Voelklip and Grotto beaches via the Cliff Path and also offers ideal braai (barbecue) locations under shady Milkwood trees and plenty of rocks to climb. www.hermanus.co.za Also known as Nanny's Beach, Kammabaai is a family favourite and in the peak holiday season it’s best to arrive early. There are two sections to the beach, divided by a rocky outcrop filled with rock pools and all sorts of interesting things to discover. The size of the beach is very much affected by the tides, and at high tide there is not much sand left to sit on.The beach is also very popular with surfers and body boarders, but beginners should be wary of the rocks and strong rip. In the summer months there are lifeguards on duty, and you’ll find the resident ice-cream van parked in the car park. There are toilets as well as some braai spots under the milk wood trees.Kammabaai is another beach with shallow water, ample parking and excellent facilities; making it ideal for family outings, especially for those with small children. The beach at Voelklip, flanked by green lawns, and with good facilities, is especially popular with younger adults during the peak tourist season. All Video content copyright by Photos of Africa
