Muri Beach Club Hotel

Cook Islands Muri Beach Club Hotel’s unequalled adult-only resort location puts guests right at the heart of one of Rarotonga’s most outstanding natural features – Muri Lagoon. The lagoon is the island’s aquatic playground for superb and safe snorkelling and swimming. With other water sports like kayaking, wind surfing, kite surfing, sailing and glass-bottomed boat rides, there’s always an opportunity to get out on the water and away from it all. With Motus (offshore islands) just a stones throw away, beckoning you to enjoy its uninhabited oasis...When the Muri Beach Club is not forging the way to save the Cook Island Whales through their ‘Safe Passage Campaign’ [please see info and video on the website]; they are introducing quirky activity initiatives to encourage their Guests to re-connect with their inner child - by engaging in the hilarious practice of attempting to beat the latest ‘How many dogs can you get on a floating device in the Lagoon?’ record. This, unique to the Muri Beach Club Hotel activity, was all started by a virtual stray dog, thereafter named Shaggy; who walked up from the beach to the Hotel’s SilverSands restaurant, in a very bedraggled and emaciated condition. Being animal lovers, the staff banded together to look after Shaggy, and the Esther Honey Foundation vet was called in to administer the medication necessary to bring Shaggy back to health. Within 2 months, Shaggy was the picture of health, and had decided to volunteer herself as the official Hotel Mascot. She also made it clear she intended to earn her keep in this new capacity - when she not only went out of her way to befriend all Hotel Guests that occupied the beach loungers under the palm trees, but also developed the unusual skill of ‘escorting’ the Guests on their Kayaks / Paddle-Boards / Treddle-Cats / Wind-Surfers across the Lagoon to the Mutu [small island] directly in front of the Hotel.
