Northmavine aerial video

Northmavine aerial video Northmavine, Hillswick, Shetland Islands, United Kingdom/Shetland’s North Mainland boasts a beautiful and wild landscape of rugged red volcanic rock, secluded bays and beaches of red and golden sands, a coastline studded with rock stacks, caves and geos, and the Island’s highest point - Ronas Hill (450m) - with its fell fields of shattered granite and rare arctic plants. We start our flight at Muckle Ayre on the island of Muckle Roe (a couple of miles south west of Brae, not actually in Northmavine), a beach of golden sand sheltered from the westerly wind by Birki Hill. From here we head north to Hillswick and West Ayre, another beach of golden sand with views of the Nista Skerries, Sand Wick and the village of Hillswick. On the other side of Sand Wick we head to Roe Ness with its plethora of rock stacks and stunning views of the Ness of Hillswick, St. Magnus Bay and The Drongs, and the red sand beach at the head of Sand Wick. It’s then over to Heylor with great views of Ronas Hill and Ronas Voe before completing our tour on the fell fields at the top of Collafirth Hill.Summertime in Shetland is a mixture of weather more like early spring in Mainland UK. Unfortunately the sun didn’t shine when we were shooting this film, and with a temperature of only 8ºC and a fresh south easterly breeze it felt more like winter than summer! Hopefully this film will show the Island’s beauty even in overcast conditions - at least the rain stayed off until we had finished shooting!Shot entirely with a GoPro Hero3 Black in 1080/30p on a Phantom 2 quadcopter. The music is “The Road Home” by Rory Gillies, from “The Deep Groove Valley EP” available on iTunes.
