Symonds Yat Rock

Symonds Yat Rock United Kingdom English Bicknor, Forest of Dean, United Kingdom From Symonds Yat Rock there are waymarked trails linking to the Forest Holidays campsite, to the River Wye and a choice of circular walks into the forest itself.Look out at the nearby cliffs to spot the nesting area of the Peregrine Falcons. You can enjoy watching the birds while they hunt and raise their young from April to August each year. The cliff top at Symonds Yat Rock provided a good vantage point for its Iron age inhabitants, who built a fort here 2,500 years ago. The site is now a scheduled ancient monument. Ongoing tree and vegetation management is designed to minimise damage to the old hillfort defences.Refreshments are provided by the 1950s built log cabin cafe, with a range of wholesome food including freshly made cakes, sandwiches and simple meals. Please note there is no inside seating area. Contact 01594 834479 for more details and opening times. www.forestry.gov.uk
