The Queen Mary

The Queen Mary Hotel Queens Highway, Long Beach, California, United States The only aerial footage I got when I was out in California. The Queen Mary Hotel in Long Beach, California Our vision is to develop an interactive museum and science center that will dedicate approximately 65,000 square feet to educational classrooms, 4D theater, and museum-quality exhibition spaces for in-house curated installations as well as traveling shows. Our mission is to continue to restore, preserve and present the Queen Mary, its archival collection and educational areas that focus on the sciences. The support the Queen Mary Heritage Foundation receives will help make possible the future museum and its educational programming. We are grateful to our generous supporters from around the world and hope you will join us in shaping the museum’s vision.Another facet of the Foundation’s educational initiative is the Voices of the Past Campaign. This consists of interviewing and documenting individuals that have sailed in the Queen Mary as passengers or crew and that are closely associated with the ship. These interviews with their stories and legacies are filmed by a professional production team and thoroughly researched and supported with ephemera and vintage footage. Voices plays an important role in narrating the ship’s lengthy history. The Queen Mary currently holds in its archives thousands of objects that include archival photographs ranging from ship construction to the early maiden voyage and contemporary views, artwork, textiles, room elements and furniture, period magazines and shipbuilder models. The ship’s vast archives also feature an important manuscript collection and other ephemera such as passenger lists, daily menus, period advertisements and poster graphics. The Foundation is researching granting organizations to garner support to stabilize, catalog, digitize, and curate this important permanent collection of artifacts and archives.
