Welles Reunion video The Stallings House, South Avenue, Oriental, North Carolina, United States Welles annual family reunion at The Stallings House in Oriental, NC. ©2015 Harris Welles All Rights Reserved The Stallings House is located on the waterfront in Oriental, North Carolina near where the Neuse River empties into the Pamlico Sound. Oriental has long been known as the Sailing Capitol of NC and the river is five miles wide out our front door. In addition to being a sailing destination, the area also hosts some incredible seasonal fishing opportunities for Red Drum, Tarpon, Trout and Flounder.The house was built between 1890-1900 and was purchased in 1962 by Dr. T. L. Stallings, a Raleigh surgeon, and wife Jacquelyn. For over 50 years this beautiful NC coastal home has been a gathering place for church retreats, sailing groups, families and weddings.In 1962 Dr. Lacy Stallings and wife Jackie purchased a summer home in Oriental, NC. They were living in Raleigh and began weekly pilgrimages to the "river house", where their children David, Lisa and Kathy enjoyed weekends and summers on the Neuse River and Pamlico Sound. The house has six bedrooms, three and a half baths, a large dining room, family room, kitchen, large porches on two floors, and a large open third floor with five beds.The Stallings House has been a regular destination spot for church retreats, sailing clubs and family gatherings for over fifty years. And dozens of couples have exchanged their vows on the front lawn with a river side wedding.This website is dedicated to Jackie and Lacy, whose love and friendship made the Stallings House a place for many families from North Carolina and around the world to sit on the porch, enjoy the view and share special moments together. Oriental is all about moments. It is a place where you can unwind, breathe and rejuvenate.Our hope is to develop a historical record of our Oriental home. We have added a Guestbook where those who have known Jackie and Lacy or have visited the Stallings House, can share their memories of our special home in Oriental.To Jackie and Lacy.
