Whitley Bay Golf Club

Whitley Bay Golf Club - Aerial views of the course. Claremont Road, Whitley Bay, United Kingdom. The golf club is situated at the North East Corner of the ever popular seaside resort and town of Whitley Bay. The course is surrounded to the North and West by rolling fields with views to the east of the coast and Whitley Bay Lighthouse and visitor centre. The course is widely regarded as one of the finest and often challenging courses of the North East Area due to its undulating fairways with a dene running through that requires a good drive and carry to successfully negotiate it on several of the holes. The pleasant Clubhouse with welcoming staff and good food ensures visitors will have an enjoyable visit. The area is known for its long sandy beaches with good roads and public transport to the Historic and cultural City of Newcastle Upon Tyne, nine miles west of Whitley Bay. The town of Whitley Bay has abundant hotels, vibrant nightlife and visitor attractions, from a newly re -vamped theatre to the Lighthouse and visitor centre with the pretty villages of Cullercoats and Tynemouth situated on the coast nearby. A local sea life centre and the Metro Centre, one of Europe’s premier shopping centre, is 30 minutes drive away. Please see the Local Attractions tab button to find a list of amenities, places to visit, entertainment. Green Maintenance Week went very well at the end of March, with most of the major playing surfaces receiving some kind of aeration treatment and top dressing, although some of the approaches took a dislike to being hollow tined and whole chunks of earth lifted in places, due in the main to the poor soil quality. These have been repaired where possible and divot filling has taken place. We have left the Local Rule for “Preferred Lies” on, partly because of this, but please note that that Rule will be removed on Friday 1 May. www.whitleybaygolfclub.co.uk John Beton
