The abbey church in Saint Savin with its impressive mural paintings is living proof of medieval architecture from the 11th and 12th century. A visit to the former residence of the famous French author George Sand in Nohant is also interesting. Listen to the Gregorian songs of the Benedictine monks in the monastery of Fontgombault. Wonderful works from contemporary artists such as Paul Collomb and Paul Ambille are exhibited in the Manoir de Villedoin. A wine tour through the wine cellar of the region is also a must. A good wine is also the finishing touch to French haute cuisine, like it is served in the château bistro. All dishes are home-made and typically French. The château has been renovated in a tasteful fashion and offers contemporary comfort in the 21 château rooms and two apartments in the Orangerie. Some of the facilities include a chapel, viewing tower, outdoor pool, a tennis court, a wellness area and the château park.
