Makrikapa is a village of the Municipality of Dirfion - Mepapion of the Prefecture of Evia, which was created by the merger of the municipalities of Messapion and Dirfion. It has a population of 804 inhabitants, according to the 2011 Census and is at an altitude of 160 meters. It is 14 km from Psachna and 30 from Chalkida. The village houses are located on either side of its main road and thus the residential web extends in length and not in width. In the center of the village there is a river and many plane trees are planted around. History: According to tradition, the village took its name in the following way: In the first years after the revolution of 1821 the first houses of the pastoral settlement were built by the shepherds of the settlements of Apogremos (Attali) and Vavoula. Mountain shepherds wore long-haired camps that were needed in the winter when their sheep and goats were barking in the surrounding mountains to guard against rains and snow. Dressing them with long-haired camps was a different outfit than that of the inhabitants of the plain, and it was called the Makrikapa settlement. There is also the scenario that the name came from the surrounding mountains of Tanaida, the higher the bear and the Voidovouni that formed a long and long kappa. Next to Makrikapa is the settlement of Eftakonaka. The settlement was built after the revolution of the 21st century by shepherds who descended from Vavoula and found in the region conacs, which were inhabited. Because they found seven backyards, they called the quake village of Eptakonaka. Eptaconaka was abolished in 1981.
