Castle Livadia

Castle Livadia. On the hill of Prophet Elias, above the city of Livadia, dominates the castle, which in its present form was built by the Catalan conquerors of the city in the early 14th century, and is one of the few Catalan monuments preserved in Greece. In the 15th century it passed into the hands of the Ottomans and in the revolution of 1821 was one of the first to be liberated by the Greeks. Inside there is a small church of Hagia Sophia, from where visitors can admire the magnificent views of the Erkyna Gorge. The cobblestone paths are easily accessible from the castle.
