The history of the castle is linked to the legendary knight Likario who used the castle as its base in the 13th century and after a turbulent and adventurous life, it was the castle on which it was retired. The castle locally is known simply as Kastelli and in historiography as the castle of Lakario. In older maps it is marked as Tianto or Lilanto. The two sides of the castle are totally destroyed by the Turks. Once the visitor has passed the perimeter of the walls, he sees the mansion, which was two-storey and quite spacious. Inside, there are still stone-built stairs leading up to the north side wall.
