Stropones Euboea

Stropones Euboea, with a population of 498 in 2011, are one of the largest villages of the Municipality of Dyrfia - Messapia, Evia. It is built between the highest mountain of Evia, Dirfi with an altitude of 1743 meters, Xerovouni and others. It is 13 km from Hiliadou Beach in Evia, and about 48 km from the prefecture's capital, Chalkida. The settlements of Agia Eirini, Lamari and Paralia Chiliadous constitute the Local Community of Stromona, with a total population of 650 inhabitants. The village's commercial activity focuses on meat, chestnuts and vegetables: cherries, walnuts, apples are grown, and vegetables, beans, tomatoes, oregano and livestock are also produced. It is supplied by spring water with an aqueduct. In 1836, it appears for the first time in the administrative division of Euboea, as the seat of the Municipality of Dirfion.
