Prokopi Euboea, Evia, is located in the valley formed by the river Kireas, we find it at the 47th kilometer on the route from Chalkida to the Baths of Edipsos. The whole area around Prokopi is one of the most beautiful not only on the island of Evia, but perhaps the whole of Greece. This is a unique route that starts after a narrow natural passage (Derveni), a point that parallels that of Tempi. It is obligatorily in the course of all those who will travel to and from Northern Evia, being the ideal station of their journey, combining it with the pilgrimage to the shrine of Saint John the Russian. The paradisiacal image of nature in the area, where Prokopi is located, can be perceived by enjoying it from the top of Kandili (altitude 1,225 m), which rises above the shores of the Gulf of Evia. With Prokopi as a base, the visitor can enjoy the unique natural wealth of the surrounding area by organizing small walking excursions in the amazing plane tree forest of Kireas. Pictures of enchanting beauty, one after the other on the way to Mantoudi. In the location of Paraskevorema is the famous Megalo Platanos, its age is estimated to exceed 2000 years, and it is characterized as one of the largest trees in Europe. The rich vegetation in the valley of the river Kireas, but also in the surrounding mountains, makes a great impression. In Prokopi we find a museum unique to Evia, the wooden Museum of the Forest next to the school on the road Chalkida - Edipsos. Also worth a visit is the old church of Agios Konstantinos as well as a wonderful trek to the densely planted hill that stretches opposite the church of Saint John the Russian. The scattered picturesque chapels of the surrounding area are also of interest to the visitors. The feast of St. John the Russian, a well-known pilgrimage destination for Orthodox Christians all over the world, is every May 27, a day during which the procession of his procession takes place, thousands of pilgrims visit the miraculous Saint of our region. It also celebrates every last Sunday of September, which is in memory of the inauguration of the Holy Temple in Prokopi, Evia in 1970.
